Man in Critical Condition After Stabbing

Wilmington, Vermont, police say a man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the neck a short time after police were called to a bar fight in the southern Vermont community.

Wilmington, Vermont, police say a man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the neck a short time after police were called to a bar fight in the southern Vermont community.

When police arrived at the Wilmington Village Pub around midnight Thursday the suspects had fled, but a short time later police were called to a different location where they found the William Roy, 29, who had been stabbed in the neck.

Roy was taken to a hospital in Bennington before he was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center.

Joseph Beaton, 29, who allegedly stabbed Roy, is charged with aggravated assault and burglary to an occupied dwelling.

Josh Heroux, 24, and Joseph Arsenault, 22, were detained at the scene by Wilmington Police Department and Vermont State Police for their involvement in the fight. Heroux faces burglary to an occupied dwelling and Arsenault will face a charge of aggravated assault.

All the people involved in both incidents knew each other and there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is continuing.
