Man in Custody After Shots Fired at Home

Evan Ford faces several charges, including attempted murder.

A 51-year-old man was taken into custody after police say he fired a bullet into the front door of a Bennington home.

The Bennington Banner reports Evan Ford faces several charges, including attempted murder, assault, kidnapping and burglary in connection with the incident that occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say after firing, Ford burst through the door of the Union Street home and threatened two people inside.

Police say neither person was who Ford was looking for but he still aimed his rifle at them and pulled the trigger. The gun didn't fire, and when Ford was reloading, one of the people rushed him.

Ford was arrested after a brief standoff with police. He's being held without bail.
