Masked Teenagers Arrested for Suspected Home Invasion in Canton, Mass.

Police arrested three masked teenagers in Canton, Massachusetts for an attempted home invasion Monday after one of the men was seen trying to enter an apartment with a semi-automatic rifle.

Officials received a call at 1:37 p.m. of a man walking in a residential area with what the caller described as a "machine gun." At the scene, responding officers were directed to the second floor of an apartment on 236 Neponset Street, according to the Canton Police Department.

While two of the men were walking up the stairs, the third suspect headed towards the rear door of the apartment with an "AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle," Canton police said. At the same time, a female resident at the apartment was climbing out a window, trying to avoid detection.

Upon realizing police were on the scene, the suspects fled in different directions. Eighteen-year-old Drijon Holmes and 18-year-old Josiah Fleming were immediately apprehended. Fleming’s brother, 19-year-old Timothy Fleming, was caught within the hour.

Although a motive has not been determined, Canton police said they "can say with confidence" that the incident was not a random crime.

The female resident was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said. No responding officers were injured.

The suspects are facing charges that include home invasion and possession of a large capacity firearm. It is unclear if any of them have an attorney.
