A fugitive wanted out of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, for an alleged brutal assault and rape was located in New Jersey, according to Tewksbury Police.
Robert Gardner, 39, was wanted after the July 25 incident at the Motel 6 in which a woman was held against her will, assaulted and suffocated.
Police say it was not a random act and that the victim knew the suspect.
Gardner was located in a rural area of New Jersey.
He is being charged as a fugitive from justice in New Jersey and will await a hearing to determine if he will be transported back to Massachusetts.
