Report: Chelmsford, Mass. Native Among Missing After Calif. Warehouse Fire

Authorities said the official death toll increased to 36 Monday morning

A Chelmsford, Massachusetts, native is among the people considered missing after a warehouse fire in Oakland, California killed 36 people.

According to the Lowell Sun, Amanda Allen, 34, has not been seen since Friday’s fire at the “Ghost Ship” warehouse.

Authorities said the official death toll increased to 36 Monday morning. Two dozen are still among the missing.

The Bay State native is a dancer with a passion for music, loved ones told the paper.

"We are all praying for a miracle and coming together as a family," said her mother, Linda Smith Regan.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but fire officials said the building was littered with random junk, wires and cooking tanks.

According to the Sun, Allen graduated from Chelmsford High School in 2000 and from Bridgewater State University in 2004. She lived in Boston with her husband Andy Kershaw, a DJ, before moving to San Francisco in 2008.

Chelmsford native Shannon Fisher said Allen took ballet as a child and later embraced "that underground musical life." Fisher described Allen as smart and funny, with a laugh that comes easily.

A photography website belonging to Allen says she shoots portraits and events.
