Mass. Officer Caught Texting While Driving?

A Reading, Massachusetts, police officer is at the center of an investigation after a person claimed to have taken a photo showing the officer allegedly using his cellphone while behind the wheel.

Facebook user Gerry Sullivan claims to have taken the picture in Reading Square Tuesday while the officer was in a marked vehicle.

She claims the officer was driving at about 25 MPH.

Texting while drivign has been banned in Massachusetts since 2010.

Late Wednesday, Reading Police Chief Mark Segalla released a statement saying that an investigation was underway.

He added, "We are not looking to rush to judgment - at this early stage we do not know if the vehicle was being driven or was parked along the side of the road - but if the investigation shows that the officer was driving while using a mobile device, we will address that violation appropriately."
