Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announces that Massachusetts State Police Detectives are seeking any witnesses to a fatal single vehicle accident that occurred on Route 140 in Lakeville on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The driver, 21-year-old Devin Carrier, of East Freetown, was in a 2010 Honda Civic when he crashed into the woods and struck a tree, trapping Carrier and the other male occupant in the car.
Carrier had to be extricated from the car, and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The male occupant was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County's District Attorney's Office ask that anyone who witnessed the accident, or has information regarding the accident, contact State Police at (508) 974-2222.
