Massachusetts Animal Rescue Farm Overwhelmed by 50 Goats

The MSPCA is asking people to adopt the animals

An animal rescue farm in Massachusetts is seeking the public's help in handling a goat overload.

The MSPCA-Nevins Farm in Methuen recently received nearly 50 goats and is asking people to step forward and give the animals new homes.

The goats, an assortment of Alpine, Pygmy and Angora mixes, were voluntarily turned over by an owner in Montague who couldn't handle the growing herd. Some are nursing kids and pregnant does.

Gia Barss, barn manager for Nevins Farm, says people who want to adopt the animals should have some experience raising goats and be willing to adopt more than one, since goats are highly social animals.

Most of the goats tested positive for a bacteria that causes intestinal upset, as well as parasitic infections, but they are expected to recover.
