Massachusetts General Hospital Lands on List of Best Hospitals in the United States

Massachusetts General Hospital earned the #4 spot

Massachusetts General Hospital made it to U.S. News and World Report's list of the Best Hospitals.

The hospital, located in Downtown Boston, earned the #4 spot.

The top spot went to Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

The #5 spot went to UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco, California.

The list took into account which hospitals delivered "exceptional treatment across multiple areas of care."

MGH also earned the #5 spot for Cardiology & Heart Surgery.

For the first time in 24 years, Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital did not earn a spot on the list, according to the Boston Globe.

The Globe adds this is most likely due to the hospital's pending "magnet designation," a recognition that is given to nurses who go above and beyond in their practices.
