Mass. Gov. Baker to Attend George H.W. Bush's Funeral

Baker is scheduled to depart Massachusetts on Wednesday morning and will return that same evening

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker will join U.S. presidents and other world leaders Wednesday to honor former President George H.W. Bush’s legacy at his funeral.

Baker will depart to Washington D.C. Wednesday morning and return to the Bay State that same evening, state officials said in a statement. Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito will serve as acting governor while Baker attends the funeral.

Bush, the 41st president of the U.S., died Friday at the age of 94. He will be buried alongside his late wife, Barbara Bush, and Robin Bush, the couple’s daughter who died at age 3 after a battle with leukemia.

The Wednesday funeral caps three days of nationwide remembrance and mourning.
