Massachusetts Man, 20, Charged in Fatal 7-Car Highway Crash

Fabricio Tavares, 21, of Brockton was killed

Massachusetts State Police say a Brockton man has been charged in a fatal crash that killed a 21-year-old man.

Police responded just after 3 a.m. Sunday to reports of a pedestrian struck on Route 24 near Exit 20 in Stoughton.

Police say an investigation indicated a 1999 Acura was driving northbound when it crashed. Fabricio Tavares, of Brockton, was killed after he was ejected from the vehicle and struck by six passing cars. Two men were injured.

Twenty-year-old Danielson Dacostatavares, identified as the driver of the Acura, was charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, operating under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation.

The Boston Globe reports Dacostatavares pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Monday. He is due in court Dec. 8.
