Massachusetts Man Shares Thanksgiving Table

Macaulay brings together a crowd of people who don’t know each other so they don’t have to be alone on the holiday.

Not everyone has a place to spend holidays, so a man from Melrose, Massachusetts, has been giving them one for 31 years. The idea that there’s no place like home for the holidays has no place in Scott Macaulay’s kitchen. Here family is what you make of it.

Macaulay brings together a crowd of people who don’t know each other so they don’t have to be alone on the holiday.

This untraditional tradition started 31 years ago when Macaulay’s parents divorced and he put an ad in the paper inviting people to spend their afternoon with him because he didn’t want to be alone. Lucky for him, he has never had to.

“I think everybody wishes to be able to go home to family to be loved, accepted, cherished and that’s what this family provides to people” he says adding “As long as there is somebody out there that might be alone on the day I’ll keep doing it.”
