Many fans of Kate Spade and her brand spent the day grieving at her Newbury Street store in Boston.
“It’s so tragic, just like, you never even know that this is going on with someone,” said Ashley Gillis.
Investigators say Spade hanged herself with a scarf in her New York City apartment. She was found by a housekeeper just after 10 Tuesday morning.
Police say a suicide note was left.
According to the Associated Press, that note had a message for her daughter, telling her the suicide was not her fault.
The Massachusetts Association of Mental Health says about 25-percent of the population suffers from mental health issues any given year.
“I don’t think anyone is immune,” MAMH President Danna Mauch said.
