Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Suspended After OUI Arrest

A Massachusetts State Police sergeant has been suspended after he was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol in Mendon on Sunday.

Sgt. Dennis Remkus was ordered suspended with pay following a duty status hearing held Wednesday at state police headquarters, state police said. He is assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing.

He was arrested on Sunday night by Mendon police for allegedly operating under the influence of alcohol, according to state police. The arrest was made following a motor vehicle stop on Washington Street. He was off-duty at the time of his arrest.

According to a Boston Herald database of state employee salaries, Remkus earned $111,000 in base salary in 2016.
