Thousands Left Without Power in Massachusetts

Two main power companies reported outages in towns outside of Boston, Massachusetts, Friday.

Eversource initially reported over 3,000 outages in Acton and nearly 1,000 in Maynard.

National Grid reported hundreds more in Milford and Stoughton.

As of late Friday night the total number of outages dropped to just under 2,000. 1,700 of those came from Eversource and a nother 119 from National Grid.

Both companies stated that the outages were due to equipment failures and crews are currently restoring power to the areas effected.

"The exact cause is unknown at this point as we focus on restoring power to the approximately 3,300 customers who are still affected," said Eversource in a statement.  "Crews are working as safely and as quickly as possible to repair damaged equipment."
