September is recovery month in the state of Massachusetts and groups involved in the business of addiction recovery gathered at the bandstand on Boston Common to celebrate the hard work of people trying to stay clean and sober from drugs and alcohol.
The morning's featured speaker Mayor Marty Walsh, a recovering alcoholic for 21 years, said he understands the stigma associated with addiction and recovery.
To keep people from dying, Boston is now making recovery help available for those who call the city's hotline at 3-1-1.
