Fox Attacks 4-Year-Old Boy in New Hampshire

A 4-year-old New Hampshire boy is recovering after being bitten several times by a fox that police say tried to attack two others on Saturday.

Meredith Police responded to the Redgate Village Apartments at about 1:30 p.m. after the boy had been attacked.

According to the Union Leader, a conservation officer with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department responded to the scene to assist police but the fox ran into some nearby woods.

The boy was taken to an area hospital by his parents for injuries to his arms and one leg, the Union Leader reports.

At about 9:30 p.m., police told the Union Leader the fox resurfaced under a man's car on Water Street and tried to attack him. While the responding officer searched for the fox, the animal tried to lunge at the officer.

Police said the officer was able to shoot and kill the fox.

The animal is now being tested for rabies at a lab in Concord.
