The search is on Friday morning for the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed an 11-year-old Massachusetts girl.
Police say the victim was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street with her father late Thursday night in Methuen.
The girl, identified as Jaydee Soto of Methuen, died after being taken to Lawrence General Hospital.
Investigators say the vehicle hit the girl and knocked her into the path of another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon says speed was likely a factor and are imploring the driver, who fled the scene toward Lawrence, to surrender to police.
Methuen police are asking people who were in the area or who witnessed the accident to come forward with information that can help them with their investigation.
