A lacrosse coach for the Milton High School girls lacrosse team has been fired for allegedly texting and contacting students, the school said in a statement Sunday.

According to the school's superintendent Mary Gormley, the coach was allegedly texting and contacting players on the team excessively during the day, evening and on weekends. The coach may have also engaged in inappropriate conversations and inquired about the students' personal lives, the statement said.

The school's administration removed the coach from her duties and began an investigation into the accusations as soon as they were made aware of them.

"We are disappointed and concerned by this alleged conduct. The district takes very seriously its duty and obligation to care for our student-athletes. We continue to remain committed to our efforts to ensure a safe learning community," Gormley's statement said.
