Mom Fights for Remains of Son Killed in 2003

Alquan White's body was found in New London, Connecticut, in 2003

More than a decade after her young son was murdered, a Rhode Island woman is now fighting to recover his remains.

Alquan White's body was found in New London, Connecticut, in 2003.

He was living with his father, Allen James, while his mother searched for a house.

Police say James admitted to killing the toddler and carrying the remains around in a suitcase.

Charleah White says she had not heard anything about her son's body in more than a decade until officials in Rhode Island and Connecticut reached out to her.

She says they told her the body was being held because James wanted half of the remains.

James is currently serving time for manslaughter.

White says she wants to hire a lawyer, but is not sure how long it will take to settle the dispute.
