Morning Rain to Give Way to Clearing Afternoon Skies

Monday brings our final day of showery and cool weather before – as so often happens in New England – the weather switch flips to summer.

As the upper level energy and cold air responsible for Mother’s Day and Monday rain slowly pulls away, showers break apart Monday afternoon and depart entirely after early evening, leaving patchy valley fog Monday night into early Tuesday morning.

Early fog burns off for sunshine and wispy clouds Tuesday – those thin, high-altitude clouds a signal of even warmer air moving into New England, bumping high temperatures into the 70s Tuesday, 80s Wednesday and around 90 Thursday.

The chance for showers will be limited through the week, with a slight chance as deeper warmth becomes established on Wednesday, then the potential for thunderstorms Thursday evening as heat peaks and a cold front approaches from the west.

That cold front does cool the air down Friday and the weekend ahead, but we’ll still find high temperatures in the 70s – above normal for this time of the year.

In fact, here on the Early Warning Weather Team we expect warmer-than-normal weather to persist, overall, through the rest of the month!
