Most of New England, with the exception southern Connecticut, is on the cold side of a slow-moving weather boundary, a front that seems to have stalled here for a day or two.

Cool, raw air will persist with occasional showers and hilltop fog Tuesday, with showers becoming heavier once again late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Temperatures are mostly in the 50s, except near 70 along the south coast.

Rainfall may add up to more than an inch for many by Wednesday morning. The risk of flash flooding is rather low, but if we see any it would most likely by Wednesday evening in parts of central New England, northern Connecticut to central Vermont and New Hampshire to southern Maine.

By Thursday, warmer air with some sun will boost temperatures to 75 to 80 degrees by afternoon before a quick-moving cold front delivers a brief evening shower.  Cooler, dry air settles in for the weekend, promising yet another great fall weekend!
