Feeling Like Mid-Summer

We start off sun-filled on Saturday before clouds move in from the west along with a chance for a spotty shower/storm by the afternoon after daytime heating.

Similar to Friday, these showers will be quick-moving and “hit or miss” so do not cancel your outdoor plans. Highs today stretch into the 80s for most locations, with an onshore wind along southwest facing beaches, the ocean breeze will keep those locations slightly cooler.

We crank up the heat even more on Sunday with highs into the 90s for most of New England, but it’s not until Monday that the humidity accompanies the 90-degree heat. Talk about uncomfortable.

The reason behind the heat sticking around through the start of the work week? A strong Bermuda high situated just to our southeast, allows for our air mass to come out of the southwest where temperatures will already be in the 90s today.

In the meantime, the UV Index remains high through the weekend, so sunscreen is a necessity. Monday and Tuesday remain in the 90s for highs with Tuesday bringing the best chance for a thunderstorm by the late afternoon.

Just as our 3-day heatwave simmers, that back door cold front slides in from the north to usher in a more comfortable air mass for Wednesday and Thursday with highs into the 70s.

Father’s Day weekend brings chance for thunderstorms as highs reach back into the 80s, but as of right now, the holiday weekend does not look like a washout.
