”Just Apologize”: Mom Scolds Sex Offender Son at Sentencing

A man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage runaway found himself facing his mother in court as well as the sentencing judge.

A man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage runaway found himself facing his mother in court as well as the sentencing judge.

The Connecticut Post reports 34-year-old Harold Frazier complained Friday to Judge Robert Devlin that his lawyer and the legal system took advantage of him.

Frazier's mother, Darlene Walker, shouted at him to "just apologize." When Devlin invited her to speak, Walker scolded her son again. Frazier said he was trying.

Devlin also said Frazier hadn't apologized and sentenced him to serve six years of a 15-year prison sentence.

Police said the 15-year-old girl ran away from a juvenile treatment center and hitched a ride to Bridgeport, where Frazier offered her a ride. He sexually assaulted her and took naked cellphone pictures of her.

A prosecutor said Frazier damaged an already fragile victim.
