At least one person was injured when a moving van from Maine hit a bridge on Storrow Drive and flipped over on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Storrow Drive westbound in the area of the Charlesgate overpass in Boston.
One passenger was injured and taken to a local hospital. He appeared dazed after hitting his head.
The top of the van was completely sheared off, and gas was leaking from the vehicle.
The driver of the van told NBC10 Boston that he was driving in from Maine and had no idea the bridge would be so low. He said he didn't see any of the warning signs along the roadway.
Massachusetts State Police said the Fenway exit is closed. Traffic delays should be expected.
Similar accidents are reported on Storrow Drive several times each year as moving vehicles and other large trucks unfamiliar with the road fail to navigate its low bridges.
