Despite the city's struggling image due to past racial struggles, the NAACP has chosen Boston to host its 2020 convention.

The civil rights organization announced the location of its 11th national convention Monday, the Boston Globe reported.

The NAACP cited that Boston hosted one of the organization's earliest conferences in 1911, and that its Boston branch is "one of the strongest in the nation."

"This is a real testament to Boston's commitment to achieving racial equity for all and becoming a place that is more inclusive of everyone," said Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, according to the Globe. "I look forward to working with our partners to make this event an incredible success, and invite all of our city to join me in letting our country’s top leaders on issues of race, equity and justice know how welcome they will be in Boston."

[NATL] Clerk Pulls Out Machete on Would-Be Robber

A would-be robber armed with a knife had a surprise in store when an Alabama store clerk pulled out a machete in defense. The two's brief knife fight was caught on camera before the clerk runs out to damage the robber's car.

According to police, suspect Seth Holcomb walked up to the counter to make a purchase. He leaves the store and then comes back in as if to make a second purchase. Then, he pulled out a knife at the counter. What he didn't expect was that the clerk would pull out a machete of his own.
