N.H. Day Care Death Trial Date Set

A trial date has been set for a New Hampshire woman facing charges in connection to the 2014 death of a 4-year-old girl outside her day care.

The Valley News reports Mary Ellen Burritt is slated to face a jury in Grafton Superior Court starting on Nov. 17. Burritt has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges including reckless conduct and licensing failure.

Police say the Enfield woman was tending to another child inside the day care on March 26, 2014 and did not know that Willa Shine Clark's jacket got stuck on a branch and choked her.

Prosecutors say Burritt wasn't licensed to run the day care when the incident happened.

Burritt's attorney has said the charges against his client should be dismissed.
