A New Hampshire man who was brought back to the state from Connecticut to face a murder charge has been arraigned.

Twenty-three-year-old Billy Damuel Maldonado Cancel didn't enter a plea at the Thursday hearing in Manchester on a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of Jonathan Vasquez-Ojeda.

Police say Vazquez-Ojeda was shot in the chest at an intersection on Sept. 14. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police say Cancel, of Manchester, was captured in New Britain, Connecticut on Oct. 14.

Cancel has been appointed a public defender. He's due back in court next month.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
