The two Maine officers who fatally shot a suicidal woman they say pointed a gun at them have been identified.

Officials say South Berwick Lt. Christopher S. Burbank, a 22-year veteran, and York Police Detective John Lizanecz, an 18-year veteran, fired Thursday at 55-year-old Karin S. Moller of York. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Portsmouth Herald reports that Moller had called police dispatchers and medical personnel to say she was suicidal.

York Police Chief Douglas Bracy says police officers surrounded her home and tried to talk her out of hurting herself before she became angry and drove away. He says she pointed a gun at officers after police stopped her vehicle with spike mats.
