A Nashua woman appeared before a judge Wednesday, charged with several different crimes after police say she sped away from officers, crashed her car into a building and left an injured child behind as she tried to run from police.

In front of the judge, Tracey Pelletier became emotional.

"I've never been in this kind of trouble before. I don't know what I was thinking," she said.

It was a different side of the 32-year-old than was seen Tuesday, when authorities said she smashed a black BMW into a fence, then took off running from Nashua Police officers.

Surveillance video shows a panicked 6-year-old child desperately searching for Pelletier after the crash.

"His heart was racing. You could tell he wanted his mom," said eyewitness Pamela LeDUc, who ran to the child's aid. "I don't know if he spoke English. He wouldn't talk to me, he was crying."

Police said Pelletier then barged into a Vernon Street home to hide from officers.

"The door flew open and a girl came running in," the homeowner told NCB10 Boston on Wednesday.

She didn't want to be identified, but she said she held Pelletier down until police showed up to arrest her.

It all unfolded in front of the resident's five kids.

"It all happened so quick," she said. "The kids were scared after."

During Pelletier's arraignment, she told the judge she doesn't have custody of the little boy she left behind, but that she considers him her son.

"I've been raising him since he was a baby. I am his mom," she said.

NBC10 Boston tried to reach the boy's father Wednesday, but nobody answered the door at his apartment.

Pelletier is facing several charges, including endangering the welfare of a child.

She told police she was running because she thought she had a warrant and didn't want to be arrested.
