Swimmers Ordered From Water After Sharks Spotted at 3 Cape Beaches

Shark sightings briefly closed three beaches to swimming on Cape Cod Friday.

Beaches on the Cape are routinely closed for one hour after shark sightings, which have been occurring on a daily basis this summer.

The first shark spotted Friday, a great white, was about 60 yards from the shore of Nauset Public Beach in Orleans. It was seen traveling north in front of the main lifeguard stand.

The water was closed until 11:15 a.m.

Later, a shark was seen at Truro's Head of the Meadow Beach, where swimmers were ordered out of the water until 3:30 p.m.

Another sighting closed Nauset Light Beach for an hour at about 5 p.m.
