As a woman fights for her life in intensive care, her family is pleading for the driver in the hit-and-run crash to come forward.

Seacoastonline reports 19-year-old Julia West continues to fight for her life following Friday's crash. Authorities received a call shortly after 1 a.m. and responded to Woodbury Avenue, where West was found unconscious.

Her family describes her as a beloved self-taught artist who is "very sweet" and a "brilliant girl," according to the news site. The victim had reportedly just celebrated her birthday last month.

West was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital following the hit-and-run, where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to contact Detective Peter Sheldon at 603-610-7609.
