New Hampshire Man Accused of Trying to Bite Police Dog During Arrest

A New Hampshire man has been accused of trying to bite a police dog on the head during a struggle as officers tried to arrest him.

Police in Manchester said 35-year-old Matthew Williams, of Nashua, had barricaded himself inside a hotel room Friday and was reportedly throwing things and yelling. They said Williams wouldn't leave or answer the phone.

A state police dog was brought in. After they opened the room door, police said Williams wrapped his arms around the dog and struggled with him. He growled, opened his mouth and tried to bite the dog, who wasn't hurt.

Williams was charged with resisting arrest, simple assault, and willful interference with police dogs. He was scheduled to be in court Monday; it wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
