New Hampshire Man Charged With Arson in Fire at His Home

New Hampshire officials say a Candia man is in custody and charged with arson after a fire at his home this week.

Authorities say 59-year-old Stephen Gracyalny was arrested Saturday on a felony arson charge. He is being held at the Rockingham County House of Corrections on a $50,000, cash-only bail.

Officials say the arrest is in connection with a fire at his Hook Road home on Friday.

Fire Marshal William Degnan says arson is not a victimless crime, and that any intentionally set fire jeopardizes the safety of both the public and first responders.

Degnan said intentionally set fires annually nationwide cause over 400 deaths and $1.3 billion in property damage.

Gracyalny will be arraigned Monday. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
