New Hampshire Police Search for Escaped Inmate

Brendan Bernier was being held for driving a motor vehicle after being deemed a habitual offender.

New Hampshire police are searching for an inmate who walked away from the Coos County Jail in Stewartstown Wednesday.

Brendan Bernier was being held for driving a motor vehicle after being deemed a habitual offender.

Bernier was last seen near the recycling center in Stewartstown at approximately 8:30 am. The New Hampshire State Police Troopers, State Police K-9 unit, United States Border Patrol and the Colebrook Police Department are searching the immediate area.

Police say Bernier has ties to the Berlin, Gorham and Bethlehem areas in New Hampshire and may have contacts in St. Johnsbury in Vermont.

Bernier has burn scars on his forehead and on the left side of his face. NH State police ask anybody with information about his whereabouts to contact them at 603 846 3333.
