New Haven Police Seek Bank Robbery Suspect

New Haven police are looking for a man they say robbed a bank on Church Street Saturday morning.

Police say they responded around 9:44 a.m. to the Wells Fargo Bank located at 205 Church St. Bank officials told police the suspect approached a teller’s window and demanded money. The teller complied and handed over an amount of cash. The robber then left through the front door and fled in an unknown direction.

Police say they reviewed recording and identified the suspect as Juan Cruz, 37, of New Haven. Cruz is also a suspect in an Oct. 20 robbery of the same Wells Fargo location, and another robbery at a Santander bank at 215 Grand Avenue, which occurred Oct. 15.

According to police, Cruz is a convicted felon on probation. He was recently released from a seven year prison sentence for robbing a bank in East Haven. Anyone who has information about Cruz’ whereabouts should contact New Haven detectives at (203) 946 6304.
