Augusta, Maine's, snazzy new courthouse is opening after more than two years of construction.

The 120,000-square-foot Capital Judicial Center was scheduled to open Monday. It houses Augusta District Court, Kennebec County Superior Court and family court, and includes six separate courtrooms.

The building is also home the court's Office of Information Technology and the Administrative Office of the Courts.

The facility has a more open look, with lots of glass and views of the Kennebec River and downtown.

The Kennebec Journal reports that the new courtrooms are light and airy, feature large wall monitors are fitted with padded seats.

The new building is also more secure.

The total price of the project was $57 million.
