Pilot Not Hurt After Small Airplane Goes Off Runway, Into Woods

No one was injured when a small plane went off of a Newburyport, Massachusetts, runway Wednesday.

The pilot was able to self-extricate from a single-engine AMD Alarus CH2000 after it went off the runway and into the woods adjacent to Plum Island Airport while landing, a Newburyport police spokesperson said.

The aircraft is registered to the Bald Eagle Flying Club out of Yarmouth, Maine.

The name of the pilot was not released.

Federal Aviation Administration officials will investigate the incident.
