No Bail for Woman Accused of Biting Off Part of Police Officer's Ear

A woman is being held without bail after biting off part of a police officer's ear, police confirm.

Nineteen-year-old Emma Wiley of Marblehead is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault and battery, after she was arrested for allegedly fighting another woman outside of a bar and then lunging at an officer after she was put into cuffs.

Salem police say the officer who lost part of her ear was just out of the academy and was still in field training when she and her partner came across the scene early Sunday morning in downtown Salem.

Doctors at Salem Hospital were unable to reattach part of the officer's ear, according to Essex assistant DA Megan MacKenzie.

Wiley's attorney is Mark Barry. She's due back in court Aug. 30.
