A building in Boston's North End neighborhood was evacuated Wednesday night due to structural concerns, leaving residents without their homes overnight.

The city's Inspectional Services Department said it made aware of the concerns of the 464 Hanover St. building by an engineering firm.

Yellow caution tape still surrounded the building on Thursday morning and a bright orange notice warning residents of the unsafe conditions was posted on an entrance. Tenants were allowed to grab items they deemed necessary from their homes before they left.

The building has businesses on the first level and apartment units on the top floors. It is unclear how many people were urged to leave their homes.
