Kayaker Rescued After Being Stranded Overnight in Norwalk

On Sunday emergency crews rescued a kayaker who'd been stranded overnight on Greens Ledge Lighthouse off the coast of Norwalk, according to the Norwalk fire department.

Officials said the call came in from the Coast Guard around 11:38 a.m. and multiple departments responded. Police said the victim left from Oyster Bay, New York around 5 p.m. Saturday and was reported missing by his roommate when he did not return. The kayaker told authorities his kayak began taking on water and he found himself stranded on Greens Ledge Lighthouse around midnight.

The victim was conscious and alert when he was rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia. It was 73 degrees at the time of the rescue and the water was in the mid-60s.
