Officer Injured in Head-On Wrong-Way Crash in Barnstable, Mass.

The trooper was attempting to stop the driver of the truck, 80, after it was reported the man should not have been driving because of a medical condition

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was hospitalized after a wrong-way crash in Barnstable according to police.

The incident happened on Route 6 around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say a truck going the wrong way crashed into the trooper’s cruiser. The trooper was attempting to stop the driver of the truck, 80, after it was reported the man should not have been driving because of a medical condition.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was sent to Cape Cod Hospital. He has since been treated and released.

The truck driver will be summonsed on charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a state highway wrong-way violation.

His name is not being released because of his medical condition.
