Officer Involved in Violent Arrest to Be Disciplined

Police say patrolman Michael Place will also be given an unspecified punishment

A Providence, Rhode Island, police officer will undergo retraining after a violent arrest this past May.

Police say patrolman Michael Place will also be given an unspecified punishment.

Police were responding to a disturbance at a home on Stanwood Street.

A woman reportedly resisted arrest and was aggressive. Cellphone video surfaced showing Place punching and dragging that woman.

Both the police department and her friends say the situation should have been handled differently.
