Officers Demand Action Following Alleged Racial Discrimination

There are two officers who claim over the last year they have been called racial slurs by other officers.

Two Brookline, Massachusetts, police officers say racists comments made against them by other officers have made them feel unsafe at work. They have refused to return to work for now.

Both officers thought the town's cultural diversity committee had developed a plan, but when it was not released, the officers and their supporters decided to demand action at the meeting Tuesday night.

The two black officers say they have been targeted by other officers shared their anger with six empty seats. This is because the members of the Brookline Board of Selectmen left the room reportedly because these speakers has not signed up for the public comment period.

After returned to an uproar, the Board of Selectmen said they are addressing the issue.

There will be an independent investigation and a consultant will work with minority officers to address the current issue.

Both officers say they plan on staying home and using sick or unpaid time until more is done to fix the problem.
