Officials Investigating Reported Sexual Assault on Boston's Esplanade

The woman said she was grabbed around the waist by a man on a bike

Officials are investigating a reported sexual assault of a woman on the Esplanade in Boston overnight Thursday.

At 12:25 Friday morning, the 22-year-old woman, whose name is not being released, reported to Massachusetts State Police that she was assaulted in the area of the Harvard Bridge spanning the Charles River at Massachusetts Avenue.

She said the suspect, described as a Latino male in his mid-20s to early 30s, standing about 5' 6", with short, dark hair, having a moustache, wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt, was riding a bicycle and grabbed her around the waist. She was able to free herself and call 911. The suspect fled on his bike.

The victim did not report any injuries, but was evaluated by Boston EMS.

Officials say the suspect's description is similar to that of a man who pushed a woman to the ground in the area of the lagoon and then fled on foot on May 24.

Anyone who may have information or witnessed the assault is asked to State Police at 617-727-6780.
