Officials: Rhode Island Man Questioned in Terror Investigation

Officials say the man has been in questioning since Tuesday, but that no charges have been filed and that the investigation is still ongoing

Law enforcement officials say they have been questioning a Rhode Island man in connection with a terror investigation in which a Massachusetts man was shot and killed by officials and another man was arrested.

Officials say the two Massachusetts men, Usaamah Rahim, who was fatally shot Tuesday, and David Wright, planned to “randomly kill police officers” and met with another man on a Rhode Island beach to discuss plans. Officials say the man has been in questioning since Tuesday, but that no charges have been filed and that the investigation is still ongoing.

Necn affiliate WJAR reports that FBI and state officials barricaded the area around 167 Aspinet Drive in Warwick. Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, the barricade was cleared. As of Thursday morning several state police cruisers were still in the area.

Officials have not said if the Rhode Island search is related to the terror investigation.
