4-Alarm Brush Fire Forces Evacuations at Old Orchard Beach in Maine

Firefighters are being aided by a helicopter as they battle the blaze

Residents are being evacuated from a neighborhood in Old Orchard Beach as a precaution as Maine firefighters try to extinguish a wind-whipped brush fire.

The Portland Press Herald reports that a four-alarm brush fire has prompted evacuations from homes in the area of East Grand Avenue and Walnut Street.

Firefighters are being aided by a helicopter as they fight a fire burning in large marshy area with dry, tall grass.

Smoke was visible from as far away as Interstate 295 in Portland, and fire crews were coming from as far away as Dayton and Gorham.
