Three Injured After Train Collides with Truck in W. Bridgewater

MBTA Rail Traffic Disrupted While Investigators Remain on Scene

Investigators are on scene this morning of a West Bridgewater accident involving a truck and an MBTA commuter rail train.

MBTA police said three people were injured with non-life threatening injuries. At least one person was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, according to police scanner reports.

The incident was reported at about 7:40 a.m. and involved the Middleborough/Lakeville line train in the community's East Street area.

MBTA police say the preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle went around the gate, which was in the down position at the time.

Bridgewater police say the site remains under investigation. Until further notice, East Street and East Center Street is closed. East Street at Wall Street is also closed.

The MBTA reportedly called in buses to remove the passengers while rescue workers and investigators remained on scene. The MBTA website is reporting delays along that line. The T says inbound train service will originate at Campello station and continue service making all stops through to  South Station. Passengers between Bridgewater and Campello will be picked up by shuttle bus.
