3 Injured, Over 100 Evacuated in Apartment Complex Flooding

An apartment building in Chelsea, Massachusetts, flooded Friday night, resulting in the evacuation of hundreds of residents and three injuries.

According to Chelsea Fire, between 150 and 200 residents were evacuated from the Broadway Glen apartment complex at 855 Broadway.

Two occupants were transported to Whidden Hospital in Everett for slip and fall injuries and another was treated on scene for chest pain.

The fire department says the flooding began when someone opened the building's standpipe system on the sixth floor, which is considered to be a malicious act.

Occupants were able to return to their homes. The scene is clear.
