Owner of N.H. Pet Spa Charged With Animal Cruelty

Laurinda Miller is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 2

Police say a New Hampshire woman was arrested in connection with an investigation into a grooming and kennel facility and animal shelter.

The Conway Daily Sun reports that Laurinda Miller, 51, of Ossipee was charged Thursday with 21 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty. Miller is the head of Sweet Paws Pet Spa and Sweet Tails Animal Rescue.

Last month, 69 pets were seized from the shelter. Police say the rescued animals were "living in indescribable filth," and had to be treated for several health issues.

Many of the animals have been released by the Sweet Tails Animals Rescue board of directors.

Miller is scheduled to appear in court on Sept 2.

A home phone number couldn't be found for Miller and it wasn't immediately known if she had a lawyer.
